Therapy can help provide a space to understand our feelings and experiences and offer more care and compassion to ourselves to make way for more empathy, presence and compassion for others. When you give it to yourself, you have more to give to someone else.
When we are aware of what we are feeling and experiencing, we are less likely to act it out on others or turn it on ourselves in destructive ways that do not serve us. It has power over us when we do not have this awareness. We've got to name it to tame it. Naming helps us normalize it, put it in perspective and check our expectations.
